Many will be attracted by the Mazda MX-5 RF’s peaceful cabin, which benefits from additional insulation. The rear buttressed section of the three-piece power roof remains in place when the top is opened, offering a more protected open-air atmosphere than the soft-top. The rest of the roof disappears behind the seats, yet there is no penalty to cargo volume. It’s fast, too, opening or closing at the touch of a button even when driving at up to 10km/h.
Behind the wheel of the MX-5 RF, drivers will fall in love with the sports-car cabin feel and sophisticated ergonomics, a product of Mazda’s efforts to position important controls for operation with natural human movements and minimal fatigue. Out on the open road, it retains the soft-top’s trademark agility and curve-hugging balance, but with a more re ned ride thanks to specially tuned suspension and steering. And unlike the soft-top, an automatic transmission will be available in Europe.
