► 350 km/h on the road with the Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach

Porsche is offering drivers who want a more performance-oriented finish the “Weissach” package in the 918 Spyder. Modified super sportscars are also recognisable from the available special colours and designs inspired by legendary Porsche race cars. Roof, rear wing, rear-view mirror and windscreen frame are made from visible carbon fibre. Parts of the interior are trimmed with Alcantara instead of leather, and in many cases, visible carbon fibre replaces the aluminium. Sound insulation measures have also been reduced.
In this respect, super lightweight magnesium wheels also reduce the unsprung weight, thereby cutting the gross weight by around 14 kilograms. The balls in the thin-ring wheel bearings are ceramic rather than steel, and the chassis bolts and supporting plates of the brake pads are made from lightweight titanium. These lightweight features are decisive when it comes to further enhancing the dynamic performance of the vehicle. Other references to motorsport include six-point seatbelts for the driver and front passenger, an optional lighter film coating instead of a paint finish, plus additional aerodynamic add-on parts in visible carbon fibre. The overall weight saving with the Weissach package is 41 kilograms. Downforce is reinforced by aeroflaps positioned at the front wheel arch ventilation. Aeroblades fitted behind the rear wheel housings improve airflow and reduce aerodynamic drag.
