WU Guanzhong left his hometown to study abroad when he was young, then he went to study painting in Paris when he was in his youth.
He lived in Beijing after returning to China but he all along had a strong affection for Jiangnan.

As a result, not only the ordinary lives of water towns and old villages, small bridges and running waters around, and white walls and black tiles there became beautiful sceneries under WU’s brushes, but also the basis for practicing the integration of Chinese and Western artistic ideas.
He had tried applying the features of cubism of the Western Art into depicting the villages in Jiangnan.
Gradually, his work had evolved into the more abstract “The Wu Village” series.

In this episode, we shall introduce his work such as “Waterway”, “A deserted house”, “Xidi Village” and “Chinatown”, in which we can appreciate the master’s unique style and feelings for Jiangnan.
