Floyd Mayweather was stripped of his WBO title, whom he won after beating Manny Pacquaio, after failing to comply with the organizations rules.
"The WBO world championship committee is allowed no other alternative but to cease to recognize Mr. Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the WBO welterweight champion of the world and vacate his title for failing to comply with our WBO regulations of world championship contests."
According to the rules, boxers are not allowed to hold titles in two separate weight classes. The WBA and WBC were allowing Mayweather to break those known rules, but WBO was not having it.
