Free Interrail Ticket launched for 15,000 18-year-olds - Unravel Travel TV

Where would you go if you received a free one-month train ticket anywhere in Europe? The idea was launched by the European Parliament in 2016. What if we, the European Union, offered every 18-year-old European an Interrail ticket, allowing them to discover daily life across Europe? This idea is now becoming a reality.

This summer, 15,000 18-year-olds have the chance to receive a pass to discover up to 28 countries in Europe. Initially, when the idea arose to give away free Interrail tickets to young people in order for them to discover the beauties of the continent, many thought the idea was crazy and questioned its feasibility. Now we've taken this first step. But it's only the beginning, and we must take it further. To participate, the young candidates must be 18 on 1 July 2018 and complete a form. Applications open in June 2018.

Timing
Online applications will be open from 12-26 June 2018.
Selection, by a jury of European Commission officials, will start on June 27. Winners will be notified in early July 2018.

Conditions for applicants
18 years old on 1 July 2018.
National of one of the 28 EU Member States.
Individuals or as a group of up to 5.

Travel
Starts in one of the 28 EU Member States.
Between July and September 2018.
For between 1 and 30 days.
To at least 1 and up to 4 cross-border destinations.

Requirements
Motivation to visit at least one European Cultural Heritage site.
Applicants need to respond to a quiz on EU cultural heritage, European Parliament elections and Youth.

Want to become a DiscoverEU Ambassador.
Reporting on their travel experiences on social media and making their pictures available for the DiscoverEU anniversary photo exhibition at the European Parliament.
