Multiple UFC stars will either face a two year suspension or start serving the lengthy suspension in the coming weeks. Chad Mendes was recently served a two year suspension, while fighters like Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones await an answer to whether or not they will have to pay the consequences as well. The two year ban for PEDs is the longest amongst many sports, trumping that of the MLB and NFL.
"Mendes and Jones (potentially) are going to miss out on two years of their prime money-making opportunities. They will be prevented from engaging in their chief source of income due to an agreement they had no say in negotiating. I realize they aren’t blameless victims, but neither are drug dealers. I’m also not saying that the injustice of USADA is comparable to the injustices of the court system, but I think it’s something we should watch. Next thing you know, UFC vice president of athlete health and performance Jeff Novitzky will be telling us that he’s trying to “make MMA safe again.”
