Alongside the Champions League Draw, the UEFA Best Player In Europe Award was received by Lionel Messi edging out rival Cristiano Ronaldo. The award serves as a potential precursor to the Ballon d’Or award and with Ronaldo being the current holder of the worlds best footballer, Messi might just take the acclaim back. Messi also won Goal of the Year after his ankle breaking moves against Jerome Boateng in the Champions League. Barcelona went on to win that game 3-0 over Bayern Munich.
