ONSTAGE K _ MONNI(몽니) & Backstage

Monni is a pure Korean term meaning "greedy." A group of musicians took this word to name themselves because they all have great thirst for music. Comprised of leader Kim Sin-ui, Lee In-kyung, Kong Tae-woo and Jung Hoon-tae, the band plays a "stereotypical" Korean indie sound, offering a great place for new indie listeners to start. 2015 marked the 10th anniversary of their debut, and this persistent and hard-working band is the guest of this week’s ONSTAGE K.
Monni made their debut in 2005 with the album, "First Day, Light," a year after their formation. They were recognized for their exceptional talents at the Ssamzi Sound Festival in the year they debuted and also chosen as the Hello Rookie of the Month in September 2009. The band further made themselves known to the public through the competition shows "Top Band 2" and "I'm A Singer 3."
음흉하고 심술궂게 욕심부리는 성질을 뜻하는 순우리말, 몽니! 15년전 신문 정치면에서 처음 이 단어를 본 김신의 우연히 본 예쁜 어자 아이를 보는 듯 했다며 몽니라는 이름의 밴드를 만든다. 김신의를 중심으로 이인경,공태우,정훈태이 합류. 2005년 본격적으로 데뷔한 몽니는 10년이 넘는 시간동안 단 한 번의 멤버 교체 없이 최고의 팀워크로 실력파 모던록밴드로 자리매김했다. 지난해 데뷔 10주년을 맞이했던 몽니를 온스테이지케이에서 만나본다.
2004년 결성하여 2005년 1집 앨범 [첫째 날, 빛]을 발표하며 데뷔한 몽니는 그해 쌈지 사운드 페스티벌에서 숨은 고수로 선정되었고, 2009년 9월 신인 발굴 프로젝트 '이달의 헬로루키'에 선정되며 실력을 인정 받았다. 지난 해 데뷔 10주년을 맞이하기도 한 몽니는 탑밴드2, 나는 가수다 시즌3등 경연 프로그램에 출연하며 대중들에게 더욱 그 이름과 얼굴을 알리기도 했다.
