There was a time in Sportcenter history when viewers would tune in at a specific hour to watch a specific host. For a long time, that host was Stuart Scott (amongst Dan Patrick, Keith Olbermann, Kenny Mayne, etc). Nowadays Sportscenter is on every hour, but when Stuart Scott started hosting the show and bringing an authentic and powerful broadcast every night, viewers started to follow. We remember Scott for his catchphrase “Booyah!” and the endless amount of analogies that reached an entirely new generation. Scott died of cancer, which he battled for years, on Sunday January 4, 2015. He will be missed by everyone from the casual fan to the expert host and his legacy will live on.
