The Pulse：Yearender panel discussion: Review of 2015 and looking ahead

Happy new year and welcome to the first episode of The Pulse for 2016. Although we’ve just rung in the new year, there’s still quite a lot of unfinished business from 2015.
Legco, in particular, is going to have a busy time dealing with leftover items that include voting on funding approval for capital projects like the Express Rail Link and debating the controversial copyright amendment bill.
There is also a lingering memory of the spectacular own goal scored by the pro-government camp in failing to vote on political reforms, the repercussions of this may well be reflected in this year’s Legislative Council election. But the democrats are facing problems too. Some may feel ambivalent about events in 2015.which began with the 79-day Occupy Central protests and left Hong Kong more highly politicised than ever. And it showed: 2015 was not only turbulent socially and politically, and this turbulence has been rather vividly reflected in the judiciary, schools and universities and elsewhere.
