Outgoing Legislative Council president Tsang Yok-sing, for the first time, reveals conditions under which he will contemplate running for Chief Executive, he also discusses obstacles facing candidates for the Legco elections, as well as whether debate on Hong Kong independence should be silenced.
With the end of the nomination period for the September LegCo election, there’s been concern about the Electoral Affairs Commission’s introduction of a new “confirmation form”, which is being described as a method of political screening. As we’ll see this mostly affects people who have at some point espoused a pro-independence stance. Meanwhile three prominent student leaders who took part in the Umbrella Movement are also facing serious problems.
