Valentine’s Day Surprise for the love of my life, Martina - Zao Onsen, Yamagata

Back in the Christmas rush, I spent a day out in Tokyo on a lie: I told Martina I was shopping for her Christmas present. That was already bought. Instead, I was out planning a romantic getaway for us for Valentine’s Day. We always wanted to experience Northern Japan’s crazy snowfall, and I found out about Zao Onsen in Yamagata, which was supposed to be snowy. I just, err, didn’t know it was going to be this much snow.

So I booked a petsitter for Meemers, secretly cancelled our meetings, called the hotel and checked to see if they’re tattoo friendly, booked a room and our Shinkansen tickets. I booked a taxi to pick us up from home, and had one piece of luggage secretly packed with all of the clothes, toiletries, and medicine we’ll need. And then...the rest is in the video. I hope you like it, and I hope it inspires you to try to do something a little special for your partner, even if you’ve been together for a very long time.
