Since mid-December 2017 the world’s steepest funicular railway has been operating in the Swiss Alps, connecting a valley station with the ski resort village of Stoos. The railway uses a futuristic design of cylindrical cabins that rotate to remain horizontal through even the steepest parts powered by ABB custom-made motors. This is one of two cableway projects as ABB continues its long mastery of mountain railway technology.
