줄거리 : 대구 명덕국민학교에 다니는 윤복(김천만)이네 가족은 집세를 내지 못해 살던 집에서 쫓겨나 버려진 움막집으로 들어간다. 윤복은 노름판에 빠진 아버지(장민호)와 아버지의 학대를 못 이겨 집 나간 어머니(주증녀)를 대신해 어린 동생들을 돌본다. 여동생 순나(정해정)와 다방을 돌며 껌을 팔던 윤복은 희망원 직원에게 붙잡혀 아동보호소로 끌려가지만 끼니를 거르고 있을 아버지와 동생들을 생각하며 그곳을 탈출한다. 이런 비참한 생활 속에서도 윤복은 그 날 그 날의 일을 일기장에 담는다.

Synopsis: Lee, Yun-bok in his fourth grade lives in a poor family. His father is indulged in gambling, and his mother, who can no longer tolerate the cruelty of her husband, leaves home. Yet, Yun-bok comforts his younger brothers, makes a poor living by shining shoes, and keeps his journal everyday. At last, his journal is made known to the public thanks to his teacher. This turn of events makes him overcome poverty, his gambling father repents his past wholeheartedly, and his mother returns home.
