I was debating if I should talk about this or not in the video, but I decided to just write it in the description box. There is a part where some Korean kids said hello to my girls in English. When my kids go to Korea, they speak Korean with Korean people. Since they lived and grew up here(in Korea) when there were young, they see themselves Korean as well as American. They obviously didn't think that someone would speak English to them because they only speak Korean in Korea. (even though they speak English to each other, but they speak Korean to other people.)
I found this incident quite interesting.
I treat my kids as Korean. I tell them they are Korean because their mom is Korean. However, they get treated or seen as foreigners in Korea a lot of times. I think that this could be a fun thing for them because people give them more attention, but this could be an overly redundant thing if they ever have to live here permanently.
I remember seeing this Korean show where Han Hyun min was talking about how he found it funny when people always speak English to him but he doesn't know any English.
I thought the Korean kids were cute by trying to say hi to my kids in English, but at the same time, I felt like this could make my kids feel that they can be never really Korean. But, anyway, I thought it was a fun thing to think about.

영상에서 언급을 할까 말까 한 부분이 있었는데 그냥 하지 않고 더보기란에 적어보려고해요. 영상 중간에서 놀이터에서 유리랑 다솜이가 가자마자 어떤 아이들이 유리랑 다솜이에게 영어로 "헬로우!"하는 부분이 있어요.
아이들은 한국에서는 거의 한국어만 하고 사람들도 한국어를 쓰니까 자신들에게 누가 영어로 인사를 할거라고 생각조차 안했나봐요. 그래서 아예 신경도 안쓰고 있었는데.
그 상황이 저는 좀 재미있었어요.
유리와 다솜이를 보자마자 외국인이라 생각하고 "헬로우!"라고 하는 아이들과 한국어를 알기때문에 그거를 자신들에게 했다고 생각하지 못하는 유리 다솜이.
저는 유리 다솜이를 한국인으로 키우기 때문에 (당연히 미국에서 자라기 때문에 미국인으로도 자라겠지만 제가 한국인이기 때문에 아이들에게 한국어를 가르치고 한국인처럼 키우고 있어요) 유리와 다솜이가 한국에 올때마다 항상 외국인으로만 보여질때마다 살짝 속상해요. 당연히 다르게 생긴 외모로인해 그렇다는거를 알지만 "헬로우"라고 해준 아이들이 귀엽고 고마우면서도 살짝은 아이들이 한국에서 살면서 만약 모델 한현민처럼 한국어만 안다면 그것도 피곤한 일이겠다는 생각이 들었어요.
어떤 한국프로에서 한현민이 나와서 사람들이 자기한테 영어로 다짜고짜 말하면 당황스럽다고 한 걸 봤거든요.
실제로도 한현민이 완전히 뜨기전에 어떤 외국인이 한현민을 보고 막 영어로 정말 자랑스럽다 고마워라고 했는데 한현민이 아예 모른척하고 같다고 어떤 카페에 한현민 4가지 없다고 적은걸 봤었거든요. 그때 여러사람들이 한현민이 영어를 몰라서 그런거 아닐까 너가 한국에서 살면서 한국인한테 다짜고짜 영어한거나 똑같은거다. 한현민이 혼혈이라고 무조건 영어를 한 너의 잘못이다라고 그 외국인에게 말한적도 있었어요.
그래서 이런 상황이 올때마다 (아이들을 무조건 외국인으로만 생각하고 대할때) 과연 제가 아이들에게 너희들은 한국인이야. 엄마가 한국인이니까. 라고 말하는게 부끄러워져요.
