I am Korean. I am a Korean mom. I have biracial, multicultural kids. I have kids with two roots, Korean and Kenyan. I am trying to raise my kids learning and knowing their both roots and reminding that they are both Korean AND Kenyan, Asian and African, and they are unique and they are beautiful.
Sometime ago, Yuri, my first daughter told me she didn’t want to have brown skin because she wanted to be like mommy and mommy has yellow skin. She told me she doesn’t like curly hair because mommy has straight hair and she wants to have straight hair like mommy. To my kids, I was their role model as a woman, and they wanted to look like me and I was their beauty standard. And I am Korean.
Since then, I wanted to show them how beautiful their brown skin is and how glamorous their curly hair is. But, It was not easy to teach them how beautiful their skin and hair were with my skin and hair types which are different from theirs.
I started showing the girls beautiful African women to them. They started feeling that dark skin is indeed beautiful. Then, I wanted to do something. I wanted my girls to wear beautiful African dresses and model.
I started looking for local talented photographers and videographers who would like to collab with me and I decided to give my girls unforgettable memories and make them feel like models and show them how beautiful they really are.
