The Austin Marathon sported some of the best distance runners in the world and one of those runners made one of the most competitive and brave finishes.
“Kenyan marathon runner Hyvon Ngetich, 29, was on her way to winning the Austin Marathon on Sunday when her body began to break down. With two-tenths of a mile ago, she collapsed. Unable to walk, much less run, Ngetich was offered a wheelchair by the surrounding medical staff. But Ngetich declined and began to crawl on all fours, finishing third in the race.”
