Recently, Dennis Wideman, defenseman for the Calgary Flames, cross checked a defenseless linesman during a game against the Nashville Predators. Wideman took a hit prior to skating off the ice, and is claiming that he was “woozy” before checking linesman Don Henderson. Reports state that Wideman apologized to Henderson after the game, but the NHL handed him an indefinite suspension pending review. Regardless of Wideman’s state of consciousness when he hit Henderson, a suspension of length must be handed down.
