The new 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed hit its top speed in the 14.5 km Ryfylke tunnel in Norway, the world's longest and deepest sub-sea road tunnel, reaching 292 meters below sea level. Equipped with Bentley’s Ultra Performance Hybrid electrocharged powertrain, the Continental GT Speed effortlessly utilized its 782 PS and 1000 Nm, running on Coryton’s SUSTAIN second-generation renewable biofuel and a hybrid battery charged by Bentley’s solar panel array.

This advanced powertrain not only provides more horsepower and torque than the previous W12 engine but also significantly reduces CO2 emissions to 29 g/km. This combination allows for a range of driving experiences, from extreme performance to smooth and silent electric luxury. Achieving the high-speed run in the tunnel required 13 months of meticulous planning and preparation to ensure safety.

The Ryfylke Tunnel near Stavanger was chosen for its straight, smooth, and lengthy design. Bentley received crucial support from the Norwegian highways authority and local police to secure the tunnel and necessary permits. Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations revealed that aerodynamic drag would be 11 percent higher in the tunnel, and the car's aerodynamics had to be finely tuned to counter the effects of the tunnel walls. The Vmax car, specially prepared with a roll cage and bucket seats, was driven by former British Rally champion Mark Higgins. The runs were conducted at 01:00 to minimize traffic disruption, and despite the increased drag, the Continental GT Speed reached 335 km/h in 33 seconds, maintaining this speed as needed for filming.
