Mahershala Ali Is the First D1 Basketball Player to Win an Oscar

Mahershala Ali took home the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in Moonlight on Sunday, and with that win he became the first D1 Basketball Player to win an Academy Award. Ali was not revolutionary at St. Mary’s in the mid-1990’s, but he did log four years at the University and it included some hilarious stories from his teammates while he was there. Jason Rubin and Francis Maxwell break down Mahershala Ali.
