August 15 is a very historic day for Koreans and we celebrate it as 광복절, the day that South Korea got its sovereignty back from the Japanese colonial rule and also the day that the government was established for the Republic of Korea. We wanted to briefly explain what it is about and why it is still important to Koreans to this day.
