Sunny Kim began to study jazz in 1998 and performed at the Newport Jazz Festival in 2007 as the first Korean. As the vocalist of the Roswell Rudd Quartet and a solo artist, Sunny Kim pursued her prolific career both at home and abroad and won Best Vocalist at the Jazz People's Pole in 2012 and 2013. She released her first album in 2008 and the second album in 2013.

1998년 도미하여 본격적인 재즈 공부를 시작했고 2007년 한국인 최초로 뉴포트재즈페스티벌에 로즈웰 러드 퀄텟의 보컬리스트로 참여했다.이 후 미국, 유럽, 그리고 한국을 오가며 활발히 활동하였고 2012년에 이어 2013년 재즈피플 리더스폴 보컬 부문을 수상하기도했다. 앨범으로는 2008년 1집,2013년 를 발표했다.
