First of all, I don't think that I don't think Korea is an absolute horrible place for my kids. I actually think that those (kinda over the top) reactions to my kids (such as saying they are so cute! and their hair is interesting!) are not harmful. They usually say it in a nice way. However, since quite a lot of people keep pointing it out, I am a bit worried that they might think that they are too different from the normal people. Obviously, if my kids are a bit older and already know how beautiful they are, I wouldn't worry. But, since they are kids, they say things like, "I wish I had straight hair." "I wish I can have yellow face like mommy." And, those comments are made by my girls periodically. I really thank everyone who appreciate my girls genuinely, though. The thing that worries me a bit is when people keep saying their curly hair is interesting and they keep touching them. That is the one that I worry about. That type of reaction takes place everywhere even in the US. But, it happens a lot more in Korea, which I think is bound to happen and I am not angry or unhappy about it. I am just trying to protect my girls from thinking that they are too different and it is not a good thing. (since there are not a lot of Black representation in Korea media.)
