- During the Japanese colonial era, Jongboon is fed up with poverty and exploitation. At the same time, she admires her neighborhood friend Yeong-ae, who is pretty and smart. The drama features the beautiful and sad friendship between these two girls and depicts the life of the comfort women who were dragged to the Japanese military. Through the points of view of two different women, the drama illustrates the agony that lies within Korea's modern history in an indirect yet powerful way.
