Adam LaRoche decided to leave $13 million on the table and walk away from baseball after a dispute over how much time his son [Drake] was allowed to spend in the locker room. LaRoche was upset and felt lied to after executives in the Chicago White Sox administration told him that they wanted the veteran to cut the amount of time his son was spending around the locker room and teams daily workouts. Drake LaRoche had a nameplate and locker alongside his father’s and was welcomed by most of the team members, but his recent retirement has sparked arguments both for and against his decision. Pitcher Chris Sale was angry at management for lying to the team, while other players said they felt uncomfortable with a 14-year old around the locker room regularly.
