The Super Bowl 49 spread opened up to the New England Patriots being a three-point underdog against the Seattle Seahawks, but as the public jumped on the early gambling bandwagon, the line shifted to a Pick’em within a few hours of its opening. The Patriots are now mild favorites on most sportsbooks and the shift is partially in part of a recency bias. Receny bias is referring to how a team performed in their most recent game as an indicator of how they will perform in their upcoming game.
