The Lakers Could Get Screwed by the NBA for Paul George Tampering

Technically, Magic Johnson MIGHT have landed the Lakers in hot water. Few things to note first:
- The league’s tampering laws are likely broken more often than not
- The people involved in this are high profile (Magic Johnson, Paul George, Lakers, Pacers)
- The league has convicted on tampering laws in the past (Kings and Hawks in 2013)
- Penalties COULD include: loss of draft picks, prevention from acquiring Paul George in 2018, fines
All that aside, if the league finds concrete evidence that Magic Johnson did discuss the Lakers with Paul George (and not just on Jimmy Kimmel), the league can screw them over by not allowing George to sign with them. It would be a very harsh punishment, but not out of the realm of possibility.
