Published in 1993, “Parable of the Sower” is a speculative fiction novel by American author Octavia E. Butler. Set on a post-apocalyptic Earth ravaged by climate change and social inequality, it's centred on the diary entries of protagonist Lauren Olamina, an African American teenager who is a “sharer”, someone who can feel the pain and pleasure of others. This fictional character and narrative provided the inspiration for Hong Kong artist Angela Su’s current exhibition at M+.

The paintings of Nobel Laureate Gao Xingjian combine traditional Chinese concepts and Western abstraction. His landscapes often present us with a world somewhere between the figurative and the abstract. Until the end of August, as part of Le French May Arts Festival, Alisan Fine Arts is presenting “Inner Vision”, an exhibition mostly composed of landscape paintings created by Gao in the last two years. This is the ninth solo exhibition of the artist that the gallery has organized.

The Carpio Brothers Quartet has long been a fixture of the local music scene. Now it has a new name “Soul Funk’d Ape” and a new musical direction, focusing on the ensemble's own original music. Soul Funk’d Ape is Bernard Carpio on saxophone, Chris Carpio on keyboards Jezrael Lucero on bass and Huang Tzu Yu, or Fish Huang, on drums.
