last week the government announced even tighter social distancing measures to combat the spread of Covid-19, and particularly the highly contagious Omicron variant. In the face of the fifth wave of Covid-19 to hit Hong Kong, many arts and cultural organisations have once again had to cancel and reschedule festivals, performances, and exhibitions. Faced with uncertainty over whether venues will even be open, performing artists have, like the rest of us, had to keep looking for ways to adapt.

Josef Albers, sculptor, designer, poet, teacher, and theoretician of art studied painting and printmaking in Berlin and Munich.
His best-known works include studies of colour and explorations of the effects of perception. The David Zwirner gallery is currently showcasing “Primary Colors”, an exhibition focusing on the endless chromatic possibilities Albers could find in primary colours. On show are several paintings from his iconic “Homage to the Square” series, and from the “Variant/Adobe” series inspired by his travels in Latin America. As Covid restrictions are very much in flux, visit the gallery’s website to check opening times and dates before your visit. For now, we went there with our cameras to take a look at these paintings.

Singer-songwriter Tomii Chan was last in our studio two years ago to talk about his second album, which focused mainly on blues. On Valentine’s Day he released his latest EP, “Grow”, which he says is dedicated to all R&B lovers. Not only that, he’s formed a new band, with which he plans to make some live recordings this month. He’s with us now.
