The works of Brazilian American photographer and artist Vik Muniz may seem familiar, even if you haven’t heard of him before. Muniz uses unconventional materials such as rubbish, gemstones, and even chocolate syrup to re-create popular media images or even iconic paintings by old masters. He uses photography and collage to encourage us to think about perception, materiality, and reality. “Surfaces” at Ben Brown Fine Arts, is Muniz’s fifth solo show with the gallery, and features new works from his recent series.
Virtuoso harpist and composer Alexander Boldachev likes to take the harp beyond the confines of classical music, and even into the realms of pop and rock music.
He’s initiated the World Harp Day, a platform for global intercultural dialogues to promote the instrument as a symbol of peace. He’s also the founder of the Zurich Harp Festival. He’s giving a recital this Friday in Hong Kong and he’s with us right now.
