Usain Bolt will go down as one of the most polarizing Olympians and athletes of all time. The world stopped when Bolt took to the track during the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympics and very few athletes can claim to have the world’s attention, especially for a 10 second race. Usain Bolt was never going to compete in the 2018 Olympic Games, but his final season was pushed by the fans more than Bolt himself. He wanted to keep going for the fans, in his words, and it did mark defeat for what seems like the first time in a decade. Justin Gatlin, who was pinched for a PED stint in 2001 and 2006, beat Usain Bolt in Bolt’s final 100m race. Regardless, Gatlin knew, and bowed to the King anyway.
