우리 군의 여군은 1950년, 6·25전쟁이 발발한 직후, “나라가 위기에 처했는데 여자라고 가만히 있을 수 없다”라면서 군대에 자원한 491명의 ‘여자의용군’이 모태입니다.

그로부터 69년이 지난 지금, ‘여군 1만 명 시대’를 맞이하여 우리 여군들은 육군 전방사단 대대장, 해군 함장, 공군 전투기 조종사, 해병대 소초장 등 전후방 각지에서 눈부신 활약을 하고 있습니다.
