Argentina and Chile clashed for one of the most exciting matches of Copa America Centanario so far, as the rematch of last year’s Copa America Final showcased blinding speed with up and down football. Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero were not in Argentina’s starting xi, but it was Angel Di Maria who played outstanding throughout to give his country the edge. Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal were flashing their world class talent in the first half, but missed out on a handful of key opportunities and misplay in the midfield.
Mexico defeated Uruguay 3-1 in their first match of the group stage, behind goals from Marquez and Herrera. Diego Godin pitched in a lone header for Uruguay, but Pereira’s own goal in the 4th minute proved to get Uruguay off on the wrong foot.
