Lionel Messi is one of the world’s greatest footballers and sets historic marks almost every time he takes the pitch. Alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi is amongst the top goal scorers in Champions League history and La Liga history, as well as being the focal point of the Argentinian national football team. Most recently, Messi set an unwanted record and it is one of the very few flaws to his game, as he has missed the most penalty kicks in Barcelona’s history, passing Samuel Eto’o.
“His failure from 12 yards was the eighth of his career at the reigning European champions – the most by any one player at the club. And eight is also the number of missed spot-kicks for Barcelona this season, a new La Liga record for any one team in a single season.”
