The accolades related to Ken Griffey Jr are roughly a mile long, and the Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds and (for a brief stop) Chicago White Sox, legend was recognized after being inducted into the baseball hall of fame on Wednesday. Ken Griffey Jr finished 6th all time on the MLB home runs list (630), racked up 2,781 hits (50th), 1,836 rbi’s (15th) and received 10 gold glove awards. Only one CF surpassed Griffey’s fielding awards, Willie Mays, who finished with 12 gold gloves. Griffey is most remembered for being “The Kid”, wearing his hat backwards and mashing home runs out of the Kingdome (prior to Safeco Field). The BBWAA (base ball writers association of america) voted #24 in with 99.3 percent of the vote, surpassing Tom Seaver for highest percentage to enter the hall of fame.
