As the old proverb goes: “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts”. Although Hong Kong’s Chief Secretary is – as far we know – not Greek she has been rather busy bearing so called gifts. Just before Christmas she announced a previously secretive deal to install a $3.5 billion branch of the national Palace Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District. Ten days later, came the announcement of an agreement to build a 87-hectare Hong Kong Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park at the Lok Ma Chau Loop. With me to talk about these two recent developments are lawmakers, Charles Mok and Holden Chow.
