The Cleveland Cavaliers fired their GM, David Griffin, after they opted to not extend his contract which runs out June 30, 2017. The timing is bad, given the trade rumors and potential to land either Paul George for a year, or Jimmy Butler from the Bulls. Additionally, no Cavs GM with LeBron has ever seen their contract extended, although LeBron endorsed Griffin in April to stay on with the team.
