Lionel Messi came under heavy scrutiny after his emotional words following Argentina’s Copa America Final loss to Chile. Messi claimed that he would be hanging up his boots after facing a third straight defeat in a Finals (World Cup and two Copa America’s), however many believe he will still suit up for the World Cup in 2018. Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, faces criticism more than any other player in the world, especially with his national team, Portugal. Ronaldo’s squad is nowhere near as talented as Messi’s, however when Portugal crashes out of tournaments, the blame falls on CR7.
