Useful - Ryan Hui, Wy Lee (Ceramic artists)

After undergoing multiple changes in state, clay is transformed into pottery.
This is the outcome of thoughtful choices made by ceramic artists Ryan Hui and Wy Lee.

Be it crockery, planters, or teaware, people leave their traces on pottery.
And so, we learn to grasp brief moments of leisure in our hands in our mundane daily lives.
And so, we learn to take care of ourselves.
This is the purpose of pottery.

The two ceramic artists will study the unique firing technique of “carbonisation”, unleashing the wildness in clay amid fire and smoke.

Useless - Debe Sham (Sculptor)

What is “useful”? What is “useless”?

How are standards of value established? Where do rules and etiquette come from?

These are the issues that Debe Sham is constantly exploring. She hopes to put forward some values that are neglected in the adult world in her works, so that viewers can reflect on them. Debe Sham searches for creative inspiration in the world of children and fashions large-scale sculptures using materials such as metal and wood. Chairs are an element that often appears in her works. Since empty seats give people the urge to sit on them, they serve as a bridge between her creations and the audience.
