The 'kissing couple' statue in St Pancras Station in London has been dressed in a super-sized replica of Eurostar's new uniform which has been worn by staff for the first time and is the company's first new design in nearly a decade. The world famous statue's new attire was unveiled to an audience of early commuters and travellers to the continent as Eurostar's very own 'kissing couple', Train Manager Adele Gent and Station Shift Leader Simon Gent, recreated the amorous embrace at the statue's feet. The couple, who recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary, met and fell in love over 10 years ago working together on the international high-speed train service which is now in its 20th year. The statue was transformed by a team of three working under cover of darkness to assemble the super-sized replica uniforms using more than 95 metres of fabric and 2km of stitching. The new uniform design is only the third in Eurostar's history and is the result of an extensive programme of consultations with staff and customers. The uniform design has itself been inspired by Eurostar's new train livery which will be unveiled officially next year when the first of its new trains enters commercial service. The new uniforms have been rolled out across all Eurostar locations effective immediately.
