Lufthansa passengers experienced a rare cosmic event during flight LH521 from Mexico City to Munich. While on its way to the German metropolis, the Airbus A340 flew over the East Coast of the USA, literally through the shadow of The Great American Eclipse. The eclipse lasted for several minutes and the passengers were able to see the sun covered by up to 95%. Flight Captain Marko-Cyrus Müller and his crew navigated the plane at 30,000 feet near Greenwood, South Carolina, almost into the total eclipse. The Lufthansa crew provide passengers with special sun protection glasses to fully and safely enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime experience.
