Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT) February 2019 unveiled a custom-made tourism font which drew inspiration from local signage. The DOT have said the new typeface, inspired by the “hand-painted” style from the signage seen in the country’s streets and beaches, was designed for easy reading
The DOT describe the new font as “more fun, more Pinoy typeface” which celebrates “sign-painters all over the country.” “Signs are more fun in the Philippines. From streets to sandy beaches. Hand-painted in an inexact individual style. This inspired the new tourism font called Barabara,” the text from the video read.
The new font, which can be downloaded for free from the DOT website, offers 27 character and local symbols.
