By now you must heard the Express Rail construction in West Kowloon needs an additional $19.6 billion funding approval from Legco, costing the project soars to $85.3 billion. The completion of the construction is supposed to be in 2018, if the extra funding got approved. The delay has also pushed back its neighbouring capital project, the West Kowloon Cultural District. The opening of the M+ museum has been delayed yet again. It is now expected to be opened to the public in 2019. Despite all that, since 2012, M+ has rolled out their mobile art events before the physical museum is being built. The ninth project in its on-going series, Mobile M+: Live Art consists of performance art and exhibitions, relating to our bodies.
Before the birth of photography, people sketch and paint. For photographer Jeff Wall, art history, literature and paintings are sources of inspirations. Known for his large-scale, almost life-size back-lit cibachrome photographs, Wall likes to stage his scenes. Scenes of nature, urban decay in an approach that he called, “cinematography” or “near-documentary”.
Trained in both graphic design and visual art, Iranian artist Nastaran Shahbazi came to Hong Kong two years ago. Printmaking and etching are the main focus of her work. Currently on show till Christmas Eve at Mur Nomade gallery, Shahbazi’s work is showing alongside two other female artists, from Colombia and Hong Kong. Titled, “Recollections”, the exhibition explores themes of life after tragedy, personal reflections on history and memories.
