The Works：Mobile M+. Moving Images with Isaac Julien, "The Purest People" exhibition, Korean artis

The M+ museum may not be scheduled to open before 2018, but introductory programmes, events and exhibitions have been underway in assorted venues for the past few years. Towards the end of February, it launched its first exhibition and film screening programme “Mobile M+: Moving Images”, exploring ideas of migration, mobility and home.
One of the artists taking part was British filmmaker Isaac Julien.
Art and creativity can enrich the lives of all of us, and Hong Kong has several organisations devoted to how they can help people with special needs. Frank Freeman’s roving photo exhibition “The Purest People” brings a new sense of confidence and positivity to people with Down Syndrome and challenges stereotyped ways of thinking about them. The exhibition is on show at Taikoo Place, Quarry Bay until this Sunday.
In the words of Dominique de Villepin, poet, art critic, and former Prime Minister of France, Korean-born artist, Myonghi is “a gem known only to insiders”. Apart from occasional exhibitions, or collaborating with poets on combining poetry and painting, Myonghi likes to lead a relatively quiet life. She moved to France in 1972, where admirers of her work have included philosopher Philippe Lacoue Labarthe and poet Alain Jouffroy. Until the 12th April, at the Kwai Fung Hin Gallery, you have a chance to see why.
From March 18th – 24th the renowned Mexican jazz pianist Héctor Infanzón, and his quartet were in Hong Kong as part of their Asian tour. They call this series of shows “Citadino”, which can be translated as “City Dweller”. Héctor combines the sound of Mexico city with Latin jazz. He came to our studio to talk to Ben Pelletier.
