USA Advances, Germany Takes Group G [USA vs. Germany Recap]

The USA did not beat Group G's best, Germany, but they did keep it close enough to advance to the Round of 16 for the second straight World Cup, a first in US soccer history. With help from Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal, the US advances on goal differential and will face either Algeria or Belgium in their next match. Mueller netted the lone goal in the match after a save from Tim Howard was directed towards him. Germany beat the US in every category, from possession to completed passes, but the USA held on long enough and kept it close enough.
