Germany advance to the last 16 against the hard to beat Algerians. Boy have they outdone themselves this tournament, against all odds they qualified and went down fighting. In the first half, Algeria looked like they could have scored, a couple of chances down the left caught Germany off guard but they could not get that finishing touch. However the Germans, as always, were dangerous going forward, Mueller caused all sorts of problems but was denied by Mbholi the algerian keeper.

Germany had an onslaught of attacks late in the second half, but again Mbholi was equal to them, amazing performance all round from him. However it took a moment of cheekiness from Andre Schurrle, a flick with his left foot was enough to put Germany in front. Ozil added a second later, but Djabou made it close with one of the last attacks of the game.
