Summer 1944. The Allies had a top-secret plan to liberate France: two simultaneous invasions from the northwestern and southern coasts in a pincer attack on the German forces that had occupied the land since 1942. And yet today, the general public only knows about one half of the operation. Because although the term “D-Day” naturally conjures Normandy beaches swarming with American soldiers, it was actually the invasion of Southern France on August 15, 1944 that sped up the liberation of Paris on August 25. For the first time ever, we’ll tell the story of Operation Dragoon from a completely unprecedented underwater viewpoint. Kevin and his crew will dive deep into the English Channel and Mediterranean Sea in search of wreckage from ships, landing craft, spotter planes, torpedo launchers and minesweepers, bringing the naval expedition to life, and putting a face on those who lived it.
