With Europeans increasingly consuming news, music and film content online, a big problem is the amount of illegal content available online. The EU is considering a whole package of copyright reforms to address this and other issues. A proposed new right for publishers is a controversial area of this complex debate.
Therese Comodini Cachia MEP, the EPP Group’s Spokesperson on copyright, says that the EPP Group wants to make sure that the value which is attributed to the person creating the work and to those participating in that creation actually reaches them.
She will be helping the European Parliament produce a report, due in June 2017, on the EU’s copyright proposals.
