Lionel Messi took home his fifth Ballon d’Or award, two more than anybody else in the history of world football, on Monday. Messi made the shortlist alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and teammate Neymar, and many predicted he would take home the coveted award. Messi received over 40 percent of the vote after posting 52 goals and 26 assists in 61 games last year with FC Barcelona and Argentina.
