In this joint production by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Radio Television Hong Kong, 32 virtuoso pianists take you on a journey to meet Beethoven with piano.
In this episode, the following works have been selected for the audience's enjoyment:
- Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor, Op. 111, 1st movement: Maestoso (Tao Chang)
- Piano Sonata No. 29 in B flat, Op. 106, 'Hammerklavier', 1st movement: Allegro and 4th movement: Largo - Fuga (KaJeng Wong)
Tao Chang won the championship and the special prize of Best Performance of Hummel's Works at the International J.N. Hummel Piano Competition in Slovakia. In 1997, he became the champion of the Vianna da Motta International Piano Competition, becoming the first Asian to receive this award.
KaJeng Wong reached the semi-finals of the Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition in 2014 and emerged victorious in the Young Concert Artists’ Asian Auditions in Seoul. In 2019, he won the third prize at the 65th Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona. His musical journey has been documented in the award-winning documentary film "KJ: Music and Life".
